a trip back to 2nd grade crafts

i made my mom a birthday card last year but i didn't feel like it was very good. i don't think my mother liked it very much, but said she did because she had to.

so this year i put more time, effort, and thought into this year's birthday card for her.

she really liked the cherry blossoms she bought earlier in the year, so i decided to make a card with cherry blossoms on it. i remember making something similar to this in the 2nd grade.

i didn't break out the big box of crayolas, construction paper, or glitter.
this was made with cardstock, watercolors, and tissue paper.

i tried my hand at some calligraphy on the inside too.

i hope she likes it.

i incorporated "homer01" into my workstation and i thought it was time for him to get an upgrade so i bought my 6 year old buddy some ram.

fyi - i name my computers and peripherals after Simpson characters. my laptop is "santasLittleHelper," my flash drive is "maggieSimpson," and my 640gb hard drive is "professorFrink." i hope i don't run into a HAL scenario though.

so back to the story, i ordered 4gb of ram (4 x1gb sticks) and maxed out homer01.

i was really impressed with the packaging.



it even came with this metallic sticker you can "proudly" display on your tower, just like a "ricer" would on his rice rocket and taking pimping out PCs to another level.

i'm sorry i can't provide you with any graphs to chart the difference in performance, but it sure makes editing the backlogged porn footage i shot a hell of a lot easier.

lip-balm

i lost another stick of lip-balm. (chapstick is a brand, get it right. it bugs me when people use kleenex when talking about the tissue paper too.)

this one is "medicated," with clove oil. i'm not eating the stick, but it does have the black colored chapstick kinda taste to it, but with the slight minty-ness we've all grown to love of burt's bees lip balm.

i can't find my regular stick burt's bees lip balm and my "lifeguard's choice" burt's bees started getting white on me. i think it has to do with the sunscreen part of the formula and it being stored in a warm place, like in my pocket. it started leaving a white residue on my lips giving me an undesired malnourished look.

we'll see how long this one lasts.

shamrock shakes in march

besides these babies coming only for a limited time once a year, the shamrock shake has a special place in my heart. once upon a time, way back when my mom picked little michael up from headstart/pre-school, while my brother was in kindergarten and sister was in 2nd grade and got out of school at a later time. she picked me up from school one day and she had a shamrock shake for the two of us to share. it was the first time i remember ever having a shake, let alone a shamrock shake.

the following year when march came around i told my mother mcdonalds had the green colored shakes again. i remember us rolling through the drive-tru and getting one for her and i to share. it was a short lived annual tradition for that was the last year we did it. but i'll always remember and cherish two years, where it was just her and me for a couple of hours everyday before my siblings came home from school.

and of course i was more than willing to share a my shamrock shake with her earlier tonight.
