money spent

i spent way too much money at comic-con, but i'm happy with my haul. i can't wait untill next year.

this is a map of the merchant area. it was never ending, we didn't even reach the end.

from strangeco, this is the moofia series. nice packaging and color scheme.

this was inside.

i bought two diy baby qees. the one of the left is bunneQ and the one on the right is grizzeQ. i'm not sure what grizze is exactly. a grizzly bear? maybe a hippo? i doubt it's a pig with the round ears.
i'm not sure what i'm going to do with these yet. but i do have some ideas i've been playing with. we'll see. i have to work on my bearbearQ first.

i bought another card boy. i haven't assembled him yet. i feel like i don't have time for anything. sorry cardboy.

this is from the mongers menthols series. meet augustus.

who knew carrots had assholes? well i guess a smoking carrot is no ordinary carrot. this is what happens when we try to alter and mess with mother nature with hormones.

this is the toxic swamp series. nice box graphically. i'm really digging the hard lines.

this was inside. he has no name. he has no right eye either.
you can't help but get freaked out by a toxic cat, especially one who's eying you with his nonexistent eye.

meet gobi. he's so badass he smokes got two cigs at once.

anarqee (get it?) qees by kozik. these clear ones are sdcc exclusives. real good buy, and i'm really diggin' the clear look.

they're coming back.

this was a card someone was handing out. it's for an art show up in sf by j. shea & freddi c. i guess they're a good compliment towards one another. one doesn't have a real first name the other a last name.
i really like the design though. the inking of the guy is so fluid and the spray paint stencil of the bird feels like it's conveying it's one and the same with the skateboarder, like when he's skating he feels free.

you gotta love r2d2. i guess he's rebelling and has gone underground. tight sticker. it went straight on my laptop cover.

must have had something funky for lunch if you're shittin' black. this is from the sho-po plop series. what's cooler than a black piece of shit vinyl? a black piece of shit vinyl smoking a cigarette.

casio f-91w

i bought myself a casio watch.
i'm not really sure why. mostly for nostalgic reasons i suppose.
at any rate... i'm stylin' now!
now that's what you call ballin'.

best pic ever!
(everything is more fun while half drunk. like taking a random pic at a random bus stop in west hollywood between bar hopping.)

happy birthday scott!

a kwik-e entry

just came back from norms... good food with good friends. steak and eggs for "siu yeh". ^_^

we watched the simpsons and it was fucking awesome. i'm sorry for the language but i really liked it. it's probably because i love the simpsons, but the movie was executed pretty well. and they did a good job not spoiling the movie by giving away the jokes with the trailers.

the movie made you laugh throughout and there were even some tender moments. i recommend the movie to anyone, whether or not you're familiar with the series.

comic con 2007

i haven't blog lately, and there's so much to put down. here's a extra long blog.

day one

otto took this nice pic on our way to comic con thurs night. i was driving. after driving this car for 5 years, it's about time i put some memories in it. i also decided to finally name my car, charlene (simpsons reference to bart's putter)
Homer: What are you doing! That putter is to you what a baseball bat is
to a baseball player! What a violin is... to the... the guy that...
the violin guy! Now c'mon! Give your putter a name.
Bart: What?
Homer: C'mon, give it a name.
Bart: Mister Putter.
Homer: Doh.. You wanna try a little harder son? C'mon give it a girl's
name.
Bart: Mom.
Homer: Your putters name is Charlene!
Bart: Why?
Homer: It just is, that's why! Now this, is a picture of your enemy,
Todd Flanders. Every day, I want you to spend fifteen minutes
staring at it. And concentrating on how much you hate him, and how
glorious it will be when you and Charlene annihilate him!
Bart: Who's Charlene?
Homer: I'll show you who Charlene is! Now start hating!
Bart: Grrrrrrrr... rrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

with a missing radio we had to resort to my shuffle attached to mini speakers

daniel was gracious enough to provide us with a place to stay over night and what do we garvey people do best?

hit up the bars

otto picked some good tunes and got the people at the bar singing along

this the crazy drunk white guy is matt, matt from bakersfield. he's visiting his bro in sd. matt walked over and started talking to us and buying us shots, but couldn't remember any of our names. matt's a funny guy.

i forgot to pack otto's confirmation papers so after drinks daniel sneaked us into the sd lab at midnight.

so after stealing some secrets in the lab we decided to print the papers.

check out this vintage dell dimension with altec lansing speakers.

day two

it was amazing when we finally found parking and got in. the entire 2nd floor was dedicated to merchants. i was like a kid in a candy toy store. i'm sorry if i seem giddy.

this life-sized bart qee was at the toy2r booth.

customized bart qees

there's a gorilla in there, king kong reference i guess, one of my favorites.

another favorite, bboy bart

i was mysteriously drawn to the square onix

these ff figures were so cool, but most of them were either too expensive or sold out =(

mach 5, and speed racer coming to theaters soon.

vintage batmobile. OOOOOO...

munky king booth?

nice hand painted resin figure, but not worth the 35 bucks.

the tokidoki booth was packed with swarming people trying to get their hands on some merchandise.

new cardboy series cartridges. how cool is that? cmyk!

crazy huge munny made out of chalk board material and encouraged to be drawn on.

nike+transformers? yeah it's as cool as it sounds.

cool, but damn expensive...

kidrobot booth.

complete set of mongers series 2. $6 each and 125 for a case of 24 (set not guaranteed)

there's the man himself, kozik signing 80 dollar boxes. he looks like a dick, but man i like his work.

cartoony star wars figures nicely done.

this one is for scott.

this is a kickass life sized model of some old explorer. vintage but with a futuristic spin. 60s pulp?

rebok+voltron

gotta give the legend bruce lee some lens time.

simple but i would pay to get that.

smoking break on the balcony.

pleasant surprise. sgt slaughter signing autographs at the gi joe booth! old school wwf!

they're coming back. futurama

who can forget mating season dr. zoidberg?

after comic con we headed over to the vtn show and this was a shot of a downtown sd apartment complex. much different from the ones in rosemead. no homies or crackheads to be found.

when we got there he was working on this

and before long he was done. very nice.
[edit]
ottom6n (7:29:43 PM): yo the guy painting the bear his name is touma
ottom6n (7:29:47 PM): touma @ work

the dj was mixing some great 80s and early 90s music. a little of mj a little bbv very nice stuff. but it was hot as hell in there. this was the best tasting bottled of cold water i've had.

after the 3 1/2 hour drive back home what better way to conclude the trip than to eat out with the homies asian style?

that's it for this post. keep an eye out for pic on the vinyl art i picked up. ^_^
