everything tastes better when it's in a stein!

jev got me a this kick ass beer stein from germany with none of that touristy novelty bs.

so tonight i got to try it out. i poured a 40oz mickey's in and it filled it up. sweet.
yeah i realized the irony of pouring irish beer into a germany stein.

fuck it! beer is beer.

fuck that label that turns blue when it's at it's optimal temperature. my stein is keeping my beer chilled.
coors ain't got shit on a german stein.

sooooooooooooooo that wasn't enough so i emptied a 32oz of miller high life.
it ain't a new years without "the champagne of beer."

i didn't have a good day at work today, but i got this in my e-mail from my other job at the library.

i don't really know how to feel about it.

library alehouse on main st.

some of my co-workers and i were walking down main st in santa monica looking for a place for a lunch and one of them suggested a place about 3 blocks away from the studio called "library alehouse"

from the outside the place looks small and it's pretty easy to miss but the restaurant/bar goes in pretty deep and theres even a back patio area. as promised by the name of the place the decor was of a library. there was book shelf in the back and the place was lined with shelves with antique beer bottles and cans from all over the world. they even had those ladder on rails.

the architecture was pretty cool too. the front window, bar, and counters were made with real slabs of wood and none of that cheap particle board shit. they were all pieced together old school with scarf joints and finished with a nice coat of lacquer. the entire room had a homely feel but conversely a contemporary touch to it - both melded nicely together.

it's always fun to try different, out of the norm drinks. this was an Australian ginger ale.

the food was pretty good. i had the tri-tip-dip and the others got burgers and they looked pretty good too. they had some pretty good items on the menu too. i'm gonna have to go back and try the rest.

someone at work does this to all her coffee cups and plans to one day switch a batch of these out at a starbucks.

jev's fat-tastic birthday was off the "hizzle" to say the least. it was a crazy fun night.

thank you ber for putting everything together. thank you john for arranging the rides. thanks jev for doin' big. thank you for paying for everything too. it must of hurt your pockets, but i'm sure you'll make them back soon with your "part-time job" haha.

i decided to go black and white with the pics for the night. after half a year of owning this camera i'm still learning how to use it. last night i was playing around the the iso and exposure settings.

the night started off at in gendale at a brazilian all-you-can -eat churrascaria called gauchos village. they had carvers come around to your table with different meats on skewers until you turn the sign over to tell them to stop. there was soooooooooooooooo much meat. overall good eats but the meat could have been a little more tender.

then it was off to the edison bar. it's a themed bar that's kinda hidden in downtown la. i'm totally diggin' this bar. it's decor is amazing, it's themed after the early 1990s and lot of the decorations and props were from the original private power plant. all the people working there were dressed in costume and even the doormen were dressed sharply topping off fedoras. it's pretty swanky with a strict dress code. i personally like that, it puts the bar at another level.
