otto and me decided to take a trip to ctown to visit munkyking and robocon. we wanted to do this for some time now, but we never got around to it. lately with the release of the bart qee do-it-yourself figures and all these different artists customizing them, and the growing culture we wanted to get out hands on come vinyl.
kozik recently released the eagerly awaited second series of mongers, cleverly named menthols.
they came in blind boxes (random) and i picked up maynard and nelson from munkyking. not very creative names like the moonshine, elwood, from the first series, but they're pretty cool. the cigarette in this series is noticeably more detailed.
the store was pretty cool. their logo of a monkey king goes well in their home of chinatown. everything was kept original in their chinatown building, so you get a rustic feel to everything.
it's like something straight out of the joy luck club. you get a feeling there were probably people smoking opium in the back or some kinda illegal gambling going on.
next was robocon.
i picked up bastardino from the tokidoki series. now that's a cool name for a dog.
i also picked up a bear bear q, baby qee. the person working there didn't know her shit and said the box contained a white d.i.y. figure but it turned out to be glow in the dark. but it's cool, i'm gonna paint over it anyway.
it's blank now, but i'm hoping to work on it soon. it's my first one so i'm not going to expect it to turn out great, but keep an eye for it.
