just another day at the good ol' library

a patron comes up the desk and grabs a pencil from the desk.
i ask her as she's walking away with the pencil, " can i help you with something?"

she turns around and answers "may i borrow a pencil?"

...i'm pretty sure you're supposed to ask before you take the pencil.
but i tell her "yes" and she continues to walk away and then i add
"can you please ask next time?"


she turns around and had the nerve to snap back at me with,
"well there was no sign, i didn't know of this policy"
and i reply "well there was no sign saying you can take a pencil"


she then informs me with "you don't have to be so rude."
i don't have to be so rude??? i'm not the one without common courtesy.
so i reply with, "you don't have to be so rude and take a pencil without asking"

i think she started ranting but at that point i didn't want to deal with her anyone got up and walked away.
