a night at the hotelCafe

steven suggested we check out the hotelCafe. he's mentioned it before and i'm glad we went and checked out the place.

cover was $10, and it's a pretty small joint but most of the people left after Caitlin Crosby so it wasn't too crowded. she reminded a little bit of feist, but i wasn't really diggin' the lyrics, however she did have a pretty cool "rite aid" keyboard. i like the sounds that keyboard made. someone simplistic and elementary but it has a pure sound to it. it reminded me of toy pianos.

the place empited out when the last group, the the ventriloquist, was up. they were pretty bad ass, i was totally in head bobbing mode. sure i was 4 "jameson on the rocks" in and couldn't make out the lyrics but it was pretty badass.

before we left i went to take a piss. i'm sorry for the details but it's conducive to the following picture. plus i didn't want to have steven pull over at the nearest in-and-out to take a piss (you're either inside or outside of that one)

anyway back to my point, i looked up as i was in the process of emptying my bladder and saw this awesome drawing. so i snapped a pic with my phone one-handed.

it's says "Hollow Your Fart" a nice play on the letters. i'm not sure, but i have a feeling it was written in after the fact.

i do admire the drawing and message. it's cool how the artist illustrated a guy who has taken out his heart (see the hole where his heart should be?) and he defies gravity (symbol for all that holds you back in life) and he's not just floating up, he's moving, moving where his heart takes him.

ok maybe i'm reading too much into this. but tight pic yo!

oh this is kinda anti climatic but we went to this delicious pizza place while walking to the car. maybe it was the drunk-munchies but it topped the night off.

label this a great night.

korean bbq: sausage fest

disclaimer: this post is chuck full of meats.

neighbor scott came back from sf last weekend and we decided to eat it up and drink it up at an all-you-can-eat korean bbq in ktown. in the car ride over we reflected on those who aren't in town anymore and realized how our group has dwindled.

then the meat came.
we haven't been to one in a while and damn it was good.
soju + all you can eat meat = a good night.

we probably ate more meat than was medically safe.

i'm just glad i'm not a vegaterian. sorry non-meat eaters.

just another dog dangling night...

photos featuring casper.

your tennis ball has a blue plastic force field around it, how do you remedy this casper?

oh dear...

the cock n' bull equation

i picked up some ginger beer/ale from bristol farms the other day. the name mainly drew me to the bottle.

why can't any of the bartender's i've encountered know how to make a moscow mule?
the conversation
in a noisy bar usually goes something like this:

male bartender: "what can i get you cutie?"

me: moscow mule please.

male bartender: what??

me: mos-cow, mu-el.

male bartender: [gives me a look] sorry, we don't make that kinda stuff here.
me: [looks uncomfortable and orders the following to rack up some respect points] uh... just give me a jameson one the rocks.

it's just a simple equation and it's good, i don't get why more people don't order it. i'm gonna give up and just ask for a "goose & ginger with a lime" next time.

pineapple x2

giant pineapple pretz sighted while i was at hawaii. they were too expensive for what it is to buy, so i just took the picture. it makes me feel like those people who take pictures at the disney hat store.

this i did buy, pineapple hi-chew. but i aquired this from marukai or mistsuwa, i could never tell them apart. they're all the same to me. to me they're like ralphs and vons.

the packaging is different from the regular hi-chew flavors. it's a nice design, it caught my eye.

the closest i'm gonna get to a ménage à trois

"A delightful blend cased on the three varietals - Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet."
