munny project - part I

i'm in the process of customizing another munny so i thought i'd document the steps via blog.

step one: disassemble and prep
the figure needs to be taken apart to make painting easier and to make the hard to reach nooks and crannys more accessible. it's also essential to wash the munny with warm soapy water to remove the oily residue that comes from the production process of the munny so it doesn't interfere or react unpredictably with the paints.

btw, i'm using a make-shift, macgyvered light box to shoot some of my shots. it gives a more professional look to the shots by providing an background with no corners or edges, balanced lighting, and soft shadows. it's made out of cardboard and tissue paper. a "light tent" from amazon runs about 20-60 bucks, depending on the size.
