picnic table

a family friend gave us this bench and table quite a few years back. i think around 5th grade of back in '95. since we took the time and effort to move it to the new house i thought i'd give it a make over. so i have the my sandpaper (manual sanding =\) mask (lead paint dust es no bueno) wood screws and varnish ready.

project completion goal time: before the house warming party (sunday.)

5.1 surround sound theater system

my klipsch speakers came yesterday. i have my wires and drywall screws ready. i just need to mount and hook them up. i bought my wires from monoprice.com they have decent prices for shipping and they allow free local pickup (they're based in rancho chucamunga.) they're stuff is pretty cheap. cnet.com buys all their wires from them and they test a lot of stuff over there so that's reassuring. i read those overpriced wires you find in best buy and other such establishments, ie monster cables, tauting a number of benefits aren't that much different and don't have any performance benefits, but i digress.

so i don't have a receiver (can't afford it at the moment) so i'm gonna try and cheat it by hooking it up through the amp or the switcher. it might work, but i probably won't have true surround sound, we'll see. i also have my airport express with airwaves. i'm gonna have it set up so i can wireless play music from my laptop's itunes to the speakers.

time is tight, and i was out of commission with a swollen ankle. swelling has gone down, so i hope i can get around to working on these projects without make it worse without regressing.
