it's a beautiful day in the neigborhood

i decided to walk to work (4.2 miles) today.

why you may ask?
theses were the answers i gave to the people who were perplexed by me walking to work:

a.) it was a nice day out (purist in me).
b.) i wanted the exercise (the health conscious me)
c.) i want to be able to say i can do it (the egotistical me).
d.) i want to do it while i can (the ambition in me).
e.) all of the above.

first thing that came into their minds were "is there something wrong with your car?"
the answer is no.

i was more perplexed at the fact they were perplexed. we're all so used to being in cars and driving from point A to point B.

it was such an interesting experience being juxtapose as a person walking with the cars wizzing on past me. it takes me around 8 minutes to drive to work, and around 50 mins to walk to work, but i realized you miss out on so much when you drive by. it's like flying on a plane over cities instead of expereincing the sights and sounds of the cities you fly over.

there was this house i always just drive by, but while i was walking i had more time to look and noticed this guy had an open air patio on his 2nd floor. it was like a 2nd floor without windows. this guy had it pimped out with a disco ball and bbq pit.

another thing i notice while walking were the fruit that hang from branches out into the street i.e. peaches & apples.

and these following pictures were taken on my walk home.

this was the view from one of the high point in the route i took (graves ave.)

and theres another. (it was a pretty muggy day =\ i'm gonna attribute this to the wild fires we're having)

this house painted in purple, even the brinks sign was purple.

the first thing i noticed about house was the hamock in front of it under a canopy.
the second thing i noticed was the uneven mound of grass.
turns out this guy has golf green and hole in his front yard! how awesome is that?
when i pass by these houses i try to image the people living there.

obvisiouly one can decude this person likes to relax and he likes golf, anything else i can just make up, like this person is a handy man because he also has a customized gate with planets painted on metal discs that were welded on.

this guy's truck tailgate had green army men scattered all over. i suspect a grandchild or son but i could be wrong. playing green army men like that felt i would have done when i was kid. there's something really innocent and pure about for some reason.
oh btw i'm pretty sure that snake is fake.

Get a bike and travel even further.

It's amazing what you miss when you're in a car.
